Father Charged with Truancy to Protect His Daughter From Sexual Abuse at School

Texas Man Won’t Face Charges for Killing Daughter’s Rapist

A grand jury in Texas has declined to indict a Texas father in the beating death of his daughter's rapist.

When the 23-year-old father found a hired hand raping his 5-year-old daughter, he hit the man in the head and neck so hard that the man died from his injuries. The man's pants and underwear were still pulled down when police arrived, and a subsequent medical examination confirmed that the young girl had been sexually assaulted.

Residents have rallied around the unnamed man who lives in rural Shiner, Texas, and expressed support for his actions. Attorney Philip Hilder of Houston told reporters that he would have been surprised to see action taken against the father.

"The grand jury was not about to indict this father for protecting his daughter," he told the Associated Press.
