Pedophiles Don’t Discriminate

How to Protect Your Child from Sexual Abuse

Protecting children from sexual abuse is one of the greatest challenges – and responsibilities – facing parents today. Over the next 18 years, an estimated 17 million children will be sexually abused.

That's 100 children an hour.

Every hour.

Of every day.

Sexual abuse is a crime against children that cuts through all social, religious and economic boundaries. Like its perpetrators, the victims may come from privilege or poverty; they may be black, white, Hispanic or Asian; they may be healthy or disabled. Most will know their perpetrators and less than one in 10 children will tell an adult they are being sexually abused.

Today, we have the opportunity to change the future for our children and bring an end to child sexual abuse. Education is the first step in prevention and protection, and our booklet, “Pedophiles Don’t Discriminate: How to Protect Your Child from Sexual Abuse,” provides a powerful educational tool for parents – as well as for anyone who works with children. Thanks to corporate sponsorships, this program is offered free of charge to school districts and organizations who want to safeguard the future of their children and bring an end to the crime of child sexual abuse.

How The "Pedophiles Don't Discriminate" School Program Works

The educational program includes free workbooks for facilitators/volunteers who will lead a one-hour public session for parents/interested citizens. The Sexual Abuse Resource Network provides an online video training session for facilitators, who will simply need to walk through the workbook to deliver their presentation. The presentation includes information on:

  • How to talk to your child about sexual abuse – at any age
  • Warning signs that a child is being abused
  • Information on how predators “groom” their victims
  • What to do if you discover a child is being sexually abused

As part of the program, each parent/attendee will receive a copy of the booklet, “Pedophiles Don’t Discriminate: How to Protect Your Child from Sexual Abuse,” which includes all of the information covered in the program as well as a resource guide to books, websites, hotlines and more. All costs are covered by corporate sponsorships. In addition to presenting the program, schools may also make the booklet available free of charge to any interested parents.

School administrators, principals, teachers and concerned parents who would like more information on the program can contact the Sexual Abuse Resource Network at info @

Note: “Pedophiles Don’t Discriminate: How to Protect Your Child from Sexual Abuse” is available in both English and Spanish language versions.
